On Saturday February 15, 2025, Richard Sivanda approached a 20-year-old man and his girlfriend as they walked along Highgate Hill towards Highgate tube station in north London. He challenged the man, asking where he was from, wrongly believing he was a member of a rival gang responsible for a 2021 murder for which there was no evidence. When the couple walked away, Sivanda chased them down and stabbed the victim in the head with a pointed weapon before fleeing. The victim was left in a critical condition but reached hospital for life-saving treatment. He suffered permanent brain damage and now requires assisted living. CCTV footage placed Sivanda at the scene before and after the attack. Officers arrested him at his home address just 29 hours later. Detectives also recovered a social media video in which Sivanda boasted that he believed he had killed the victim and described the gruesome assault.
Pleaded guilty to assault with intent to cause serious harm. Jury found him guilty of attempted murder on January 14.

On January 17, 2025, Matvei Rumiantsev, 23, from Canary Wharf, east London, drunkenly assaulted a woman in her home after becoming jealous of her friendship with Barron Trump, which began via social media in October 2024. The assault lasted about an hour, during which he repeatedly struck her in the face, dragged her by her hair when she tried to seek help, and answered a FaceTime call from Barron Trump to show her crying and being hit on the floor. The woman believed she might die. After arrest, Rumiantsev attempted to pervert justice by pressuring her to withdraw allegations via a phone call from the police station and a letter from prison to a friend. Barron Trump, witnessing briefly via video call from the US, called 999 on January 18, 2025, alerting authorities. The victim suffered significant emotional trauma, withdrawing from the world and living in fear of his release.

On 9 January 2024, Vasile Gorghescu lured Chaudhary Mahmood to a car park in Stratford under the pretence of selling mobile phones. He had borrowed his brother’s car and driven from Southampton. Instead of phones, he had a box of fizzy drinks to pass off as phones in a planned scam. When Chaudhary discovered the fraud, Gorghescu stabbed him 27 times, hid the body under blankets and boxes in the car, left it in the car park, returned to Southampton, and told his brother to report the car stolen, confessing there was a body in it.

Adrian Morbey raped and sexually assaulted a young girl for almost a decade between 1989 and 1996 when the victim was aged between seven and 15. In 1989, Morbey started to intercept the victim, then aged just seven, when she was on her way home from school and would take her to various locations. The offending began as sexual assault and progressed to rape. Morbey would also shower her with over-the-top gifts and money. The victim’s mother approached police in 2018, leading to the victim's disclosure and Morbey's arrest. He denied the allegations during interview.
Found guilty of four counts of indecent assault on a child, two counts of indecency with a child and one count of raping a child aged under 16. Will be on the sex offenders’ register for life.

From September 2019 to June 2022, Cesar Cordero Conejo made payments to a Filipino child abuse network and made specific requests for the sexual abuse of four children aged between two and 14 years old. The network live-streamed and recorded the abuse. Conejo discussed visiting the network in the Philippines to have access to the children in person. He was arrested on 28 July 2023 by the National Crime Agency, and digital equipment seized provided evidence including chat logs and thousands of indecent images of children. The four children have been rescued by Filipino authorities, and an adult suspected of being paid by Conejo has been arrested and charged in the Philippines.
Pleaded guilty to 18 offences including inciting the sexual exploitation of a child, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, causing the sexual exploitation of a child, and making indecent images of children. Received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be subject to notification requirements.

On 28 June 2022, officers executed warrants at his address and a linked address, finding a large quantity of Class A drugs and more than £60,000 in cash. He was arrested, charged, and remanded.

Stephen Lott, 47, of Kingsbridge Road in Harold Hill, groomed an eight-year-old boy over nine months in late 2023 by buying him gifts and presents, then kissed him and invited him to his home with the intention of committing further sexual abuse. He has a history of child sexual abuse dating back to the mid-1990s, including repeatedly orally raping a girl aged five to seven and groping girls aged five and eight in 2016 at South Kensington station. His actions were captured in court statements from the victim's mother, highlighting the emotional impact.
Convicted by jury of sexual assault on a child and meeting a child following grooming; Judge Cohen described his behaviour as sexualised and predatory, and noted his previous convictions for child sexual abuse; Lott claimed his actions were accidental but was deemed dangerous, leading to an extended sentence.

Officers based in Tower Hamlets began their investigation into Uddin after a school in east London reported that he was acting suspiciously in the area. Officers retrieved CCTV footage from the school, which they trawled through to build up a pattern of behaviour, and found a stash of more than 100 wraps of heroin and cocaine, hidden in a cigarette box nearby estimated to be worth £1,100. Officers executed a warrant on Uddin’s address on Brook Drive, SE11 on Monday, 22 April, where they found additional Class A and B drugs, drugs paraphernalia and clothes that matched his outfit seen on the school CCTV.
Pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession of Class B drugs.

On Sunday 16 July 2023, Sam Price met a woman in Romford and exchanged details with her. Within days, he began a sustained period of intimidation and abuse lasting seven days. He prevented her from leaving her home, punched her repeatedly, bit her, subjected her to various other attacks and threats, and raped her. The victim called a friend after Price left, leading to police notification. Officers collected CCTV evidence, witness and victim statements, resulting in Price's arrest on 26 July 2023 at his address in Central Park Avenue, Dagenham.
Found guilty of rape and one count of assault following a trial; pleaded guilty to another count of assault. Received a lifetime restraining order and will be added to the Sex Offenders Register.

On the evening of 11 July 2023, Oladip Oshodi made sexual advances toward a woman known to him at his home in the Mayesbrook area of Dagenham. Despite her clear refusal, he raped her twice, subjected her to a violent beating, and administered a noxious substance. He also threatened to kill her and engaged in controlling coercive behaviour. The victim escaped by jumping from a ground floor window, collapsing in the street where members of the public called police and assisted her. She was hospitalized and supported by specialist officers. Oshodi was arrested on 12 July 2023 and remanded in custody.
Convicted on 10 May 2024 of two counts of rape, administering a noxious substance, threats to kill, grievous bodily harm and controlling coercive behaviour. Showed no remorse throughout the investigation and trial.

Mohammed Jakir Hussain was involved in a large-scale drug operation supplying cocaine, heroin, and crystal methamphetamine, distributing around 80kg of drugs valued at £8m. Intelligence in 2021 led to analysis of communications from seven phones. He also attempted to smuggle drugs into a prison by throwing over the wall, using a drone (Op Hobbes), and involving retail shop workers, with plans including test flights and observing guard routines.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin; found guilty of involvement in the distribution of Class A drugs, conspiracy to supply heroin, possession of Class B drugs, and attempting to smuggle prohibited items into a prison.

Despite having no DNA evidence or recent witness accounts, officers carried out extensive interviews with friends and family of the victim, gathered detailed medical records to show the extent of abuse, and obtained notes from the victim's counselling sessions.

Hamza Nasir, of Pembroke Road in Ilford, committed two rapes. The first occurred on January 23, 2022, when he met a woman in a car park outside a nightclub in Basildon, offered her a ride to a party, but instead drove to an alleyway near Newbury Park underground station where he raped her and fled. The second took place on March 15, 2023, after he arranged to meet a teenage girl he had befriended on Snapchat at a home in Goodmayes, where he raped her; she escaped and sought help. Nasir was identified through hotel records and Snapchat images, arrested, and linked to both crimes via DNA evidence.
Pleaded guilty to two separate rapes. Victims did not have to testify due to the guilty pleas. DC Chloe James praised the victims' bravery and noted that Nasir will be on the sex offenders register for life after his sentence.

On December 25, 2022, Ethan Veiro, 26, of Wood Green, north London, committed a series of burglaries in east London starting in the early hours by stealing a car in Wood Lane, Dagenham. The vehicle was abandoned on Waterbeach Road, Dagenham. He targeted addresses across east London, stealing house keys, a bicycle, cash, and a set of car keys used to steal another car. Located in the stolen car at midday in Redbridge, he failed to stop for officers, leading to a pursuit into Essex. Cornered on the M11 by specialist Met pursuit teams using a tactical contact manoeuvre, he was arrested.

The offences occurred on 22 July 2023 at Marlborough Road, Romford (57-year-old victim); 27 July 2023 at Colchester Road, Romford (35-year-old victim); and 27 July 2023 at Horns Road, Ilford (41-year-old victim). On the night of 27 July 2023, plain-clothed officers spotted Wade driving a black Ford Focus with cloned number plates in Collier Row. He became aggressive during arrest, injuring an officer. One victim's elderly father was also injured trying to stop him. Stolen property was recovered through joint investigation with Essex Police. No lasting physical injuries reported.
Pleaded guilty to one count of robbery, two counts of theft, two counts of dangerous driving, actual bodily harm, driving whilst disqualified and no insurance. Disqualified from driving for 55 months.

Michael Costin, a former scout leader and teacher, sexually abused young boys over two decades starting in the 1980s. As a scout leader at St Augustine’s Church in Rush Green, Romford, he indecently assaulted boys aged 11 to 15, performing sex acts on them and encouraging some to engage in sexual activity with each other. The abuse continued in the 1990s in Sussex, where he worked as a teacher in Ipswich and volunteered as a scout leader in Kirton. Later, in Oxfordshire, he abused a 13-year-old boy and his girlfriend, plying them with drugs and alcohol. He was convicted of 22 offences of indecent assault.
Denied some offences until late in proceedings; judge described crimes as repeated, brazen, manipulative and abusive; lost appeal, with judges noting he was partly responsible for delays and showed no remorse.

Hussain Sha, 42, of Bethnal Green, became obsessed with Bethnal Green and Bow MP Rushanara Ali after initial involvement with her constituency office regarding a housing problem. Between April 2018 and his arrest in December 2019, he sent approximately 290 abusive and threatening messages to Ms Ali, her staff, family members, and other politicians including Jeremy Corbyn, John Biggs, Sajid Javid, Jim Fitzpatrick, and Oona King. Messages included racist slurs and explicit threats such as going to Ms Ali’s office 'with a hand [gun] to do her Jo Cox-style' and blowing up her office 'terrorist-style with petrol'. He had been in custody awaiting sentencing for over six months.
Admitted two counts of racially and religiously aggravated harassment, two counts of sending an electronic communication with intent to cause distress, threatening to destroy or damage property and fraud. Also pleaded guilty to one count of exposure in an unrelated case. Avoided jail and received a 12 year restraining order requiring court permission before contacting an MP.
