On November 17, 2022, at around 7.30am, 23-year-old Cameron Bryce was driving a blue Ford Transit on the A43 southbound between Bulwick and Blatherwycke, Northamptonshire, when he crossed onto the wrong side of the road due to being unfit through cocaine and cannabis taken the night before. He collided with a silver DAF truck, causing it to veer into the southbound carriageway where it collided with a white Ford Courier van driven by Sam Morris, which then crashed off the road. Sam Morris, 32, from Wisbech, father of three young daughters, was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver suffered significant psychological trauma, including PTSD and a trauma-induced neurological condition causing seizures, ending his 30-year driving career.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by driving without due care/consideration while unfit through drugs and causing serious injury by careless/inconsiderate driving. Also disqualified from driving for 9 years and 5 months, ordered to pay £228 surcharge, and driving record endorsed. On 30 March 2020, Chang drove an unmarked police vehicle dangerously at speeds of and in excess of 100 mph whilst using a mobile phone, resulting in a collision. On 15 April 2020, whilst off-duty, he engaged with a member of the public, drew and used his PAVA spray on an innocent bystander who suffered short-term harmful effects, and also used his police vest and baton without authorisation.

An investigation by the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) led to his arrest on November 25, 2020.

Simba Masvaure, aged 44 of Kingsfold, Bradville, Milton Keynes, was convicted of sexually abusing a girl under the age of 16 in Northampton. The victim, who was under 16 at the time, suffered severe psychological trauma, including constant fear, nightmares, anxiety, and depression, as detailed in two victim impact statements from April 2019 and June 2021. She described flashbacks, disrupted education, and a lasting sense of despair, though she found some relief after the trial. Masvaure denied the allegations in court, causing further pain. His Honour Judge David Herbert QC described him as a danger to young girls and stated he lacked remorse and understanding of the harm caused. Upon release, Masvaure will be subject to an extended licence, a sexual harm prevention order, and a restraining order.

Sajad Hashimi

Between August 2022 and October 2023, Sajad Hashimi operated a drone to drop heroin, cocaine, cannabis, steroids, tobacco, mobile phones, SIM cards, and phone chargers into HMP Onley on at least 72 occasions and into at least 10 other prisons and young offender institutes. He was responsible for more than 100 drone incursions across 78 separate dates. Hashimi communicated with prisoners to arrange drops and used cars hired by his wife, Zerka Maranay, to travel to and from prison sites. The conspiracy exploited drone technology to smuggle contraband on a large scale.
Pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A and Class B drugs and convey List B prohibited articles into prisons. Issued a five-year Serious Crime Prevention Order to take effect on release.

Samuel Field, a paranoid cannabis user, tortured his 93-year-old close friend Martin Glynn for more than 24 hours by punching, kicking, stamping on and strangling him. The attack occurred at Field's home in Desborough, Northamptonshire, in September 2024. Field falsely believed Glynn had betrayed him and interrogated him while making voice recordings about a conspiracy. Glynn was left motionless and died three months later from pneumonia caused by brain injuries.
Denied murder but found guilty after trial. Admitted striking the victim four times but claimed no intent to kill. Judge noted he attacked a vulnerable elderly friend in anger and continued despite knowing he was at Field's mercy.

Raeshon Dean Everton Rose, 24, from Northampton, abused four young girls over a six-year period starting when he was a teenager. The abuse involved repeated sexual assault, forcing victims to perform oral sex, and child rape. The case emerged in 2021 when one victim disclosed to a friend, leading to investigation by Northamptonshire Police and identification of three further victims. Rose was charged with eight counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13, five counts of child rape, and one count of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. He pleaded not guilty and was convicted after trial at Northampton Crown Court. Rose failed to appear for his sentencing hearing and fled the country; he was sentenced in absentia by Judge Rebecca Crane.

Rocky Uzzell, 29, and his partner Katherine Prigmore inflicted catastrophic injuries on their five-week-old daughter Isabelle in 2014 through violent shaking and squeezing. Isabelle was admitted to Kettering General Hospital on 20 March 2014 with bleeds on the brain and spinal column, rib fractures, and fractured limbs. The abuse left her blind, tube-fed, with epilepsy and severe learning difficulties, and not expected to live beyond early adulthood. Evidence included videos of Uzzell forcefully winding the distressed baby while Prigmore laughed, and his hands on her throat as she vomited. The couple showed a shocking lack of concern during hospitalisation. Uzzell was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court to eight and a half years for the physical harm, with additional concurrent sentences for indecent images found on his device.

From approximately August 2022 to October 2023, Zerka Maranay assisted her husband Sajad Hashimi in a drone smuggling operation targeting multiple prisons. She hired at least 20 cars costing around £17,000, which Hashimi used to travel to prison sites for drops. Maranay laundered almost £50,000 in payments received for the drone deliveries through her bank account, knowing the funds were proceeds of crime.

Stephen Mitchell, aged 58, of Heron Way, Northampton, committed historic sex offences against children, the most severe being the attempted rape of a child under the age of 14. Arrested on August 15, 2021, after parents of one victim reported him to police. He confessed to crimes against a third victim who had not come forward. Victims suffered significant impacts including self-harm, counselling needs, loss of innocence, turning to drink, job loss, and social isolation.

Between 2010 and 2013, Theressa Morrisroe, a purchase ledger clerk at the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, duplicated an invoice from a regular supplier to transfer over £100,000 into her father's account. The fraud was discovered a year after she left the charity in February 2013 when a supplier complained about non-payment. She subsequently defrauded her next employer, Phoenix IT Group, using similar methods. In a police statement she said she acted because of financial difficulties and because she felt mistreated by colleagues. The MND Association's head of finance stated the offence shocked everyone associated with the charity.
Pleaded not stated; sentenced by Judge Lynn Tayton QC to two years for defrauding the MND Association and a further year for defrauding a subsequent employer, Phoenix IT Group. Morrisroe claimed she committed the fraud due to financial struggles and because she 'hated everyone' at the charity.

He was arrested and later pleaded guilty at Northampton Crown Court.

Spencer King, aged 54, from Banbury, Oxfordshire, abused a young girl over a two-year period. He committed multiple sexual assaults, including assault by penetration, against the victim who was under 13 at the time of some offences. The abuse was reported to Northamptonshire Police, and King denied the allegations, forcing a trial. In November 2022, a jury at Northampton Crown Court convicted him of nine child sex offences, and on 3 February 2023 he was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison.

Aramis Sullivan

Aramis Sullivan, formerly of Luton, was involved in a series of terrifying kidnappings and blackmail incidents targeting young victims in Northamptonshire. In August 2021, Sullivan, aged 19 at the time, along with Brandon Southall, approached two young men in a McDonald’s in Northampton. They intimidated the victims into leaving the premises and forced them to drive to Coventry under threats of harm. The perpetrators demanded £1,000 from the victims' relatives to secure their release. The victims managed to raise £500 from relatives and friends, which they bank transferred and withdrew, before being made to drive around for six hours, travelling to Birmingham and back to Northampton. They only escaped when Sullivan and Southall exited the car. The day prior to this incident, Sullivan and another unnamed man threatened a 17-year-old boy on a Northampton footbridge, compelling his mother to travel to a secluded wooded area to pay £200 for her son's release.
Aged 19 at time of offences. Had prior convictions for attempted robbery, robbery, and fraud. Detective Sergeant Cory Wise said the victims and their families went through terrifying experiences.

Abdul Shohid, a 47-year-old taxi driver from Northampton, was convicted of raping one woman and sexually assaulting two others. He exploited his role of trust to prey on vulnerable women, including those who were intoxicated or isolated. After his arrest in 2015 following reports from two women, DNA evidence linked him to an unsolved rape case. The offences occurred prior to his arrest. At Northampton Crown Court, Judge Robert Brown sentenced him to 12 years for rape and an additional six months for the sexual assaults, totalling 12 years and six months. The case took over three years to reach trial, with Shohid's not guilty plea causing significant delays. A victim described fearing taxis and criticised the judicial delays. Shohid showed no remorse.

Adrian Mark Westley

At trial, the court heard from victims, witnesses, and counsellors about the lifelong physical and psychological harm caused by the abuse. Allan Robins drove 40 miles from Great Oakley, Corby, Northamptonshire to Milton Keynes with condoms after arranging online via Chatiw chat room to meet a woman and sexually abuse her three children (aged two-year-old girl, seven-year-old boy, and autistic nine-year-old girl), who were fictitious in a police sting operation (Operation Jenson) on December 20. He bragged about having sex with a young girl and described lewd acts. Police arrested him at the location. Search found Scout scarf, baby rattle, sex toys and viagra at his home in Pound Close, Corby.
Admitted three charges of arranging or facilitating a child sex offence. Branded a dangerous predator. Will serve half of his sentence behind bars before release on licence. Subject to sex offenders register and sexual harm prevention order for life.
Andrew Eyre
Operating waste tyre facility without environmental permit *

Andrew Eyre, 55, and Nimesh Patel ran the waste tyre site Synergy Tyres (Midland) Ltd. at Broad March Industrial Estate without an environmental permit. Tyres were stored unsafely, creating significant fire and pollution risks. Environment Agency inspections throughout 2020 found huge amounts of tyres exceeding the 40-tonne weekly legal limit in 52 out of 59 weeks. Arrested in February 2021 after site not brought into compliance.
Pleaded guilty. HHJ Lucking KC said they had been reckless and displayed wilful blindness. Previously received a suspended sentence in January 2020 for similar offence. Sole Director of Synergy Tyres (Midland) Ltd.

Murdered his seven-week-old daughter Jessica Randall in Kettering, Northamptonshire, in 2005 after he threw the baby girl headfirst into a settee in their home after abusing her since birth. He told officers he resented her since she was born and there were concerns about Jessica's welfare by doctors and staff on the maternity ward, with visits by social services.
Blinded in one eye after prison assault in 2011. Attacked again in 2013.
Collin Pritchard

Collin Pritchard, a 64-year-old retired Church of England priest, was sentenced for seven sex offences against two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s while he was parish priest at St Andrew's Church in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. He groomed the victims by befriending their families, then abused them, starting with kissing and fondling and escalating to sharing beds. The court heard that Pritchard's integration into the families gave him control over both the children and their parents, stripping the boys of power to resist.
Pleaded guilty. Judge Christopher Metcalf described the crimes as 'the most appalling breach of trust'.

Curtis Bull, of Oak Lane, Crick, Northamptonshire, sexually assaulted a female in June 2019 while under the influence of alcohol. This was his second similar offence; he had previously been sentenced to 16 months in prison in 2016 for a near-identical crime that left bruises on another woman's neck.
Pleaded guilty to sexual assault. Repeat offender with prior 16 months imprisonment for similar offence in 2016. Defence cited mental health concerns and heavy alcohol use. Ordered to sign Sex Offenders' Register for 5 years, complete sex offender intervention programme, and undergo 6-month alcohol treatment programme. Judge warned him to treat probation appointments seriously.

Daniel Stanley Bradshaw, aged 27 and of Fulmar Lane, Wellingborough, was found guilty of two counts of raping a child under 13, two counts of touching a child under 13, and one count of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. He was sentenced on 25 November 2016 at Northampton Crown Court.

Gordon Newman, from High Barns Close, Northampton, NN4 5BH, used the social media website Tumblr under the handle 'Boundaryless' to chat with other paedophiles, post indecent images of children, and make comments such as 'cute' on pictures depicting child abuse. Police discovered this during a spot check at his home in November 2018 as part of his existing sexual harm prevention order, finding his phone logged into Tumblr and sharing images in private sessions.
Pleaded guilty to distributing and making indecent images of children. Third sentence in 10 years; suspended sentence in 2010 and jail in March 2017. His Honour Judge Roger Tregilgas-Davey stated the matter was so serious only an immediate custodial sentence could be imposed. Sexual harm prevention order for 10 years preventing work with children or vulnerable adults.

Mark Antony Sinclair, 36, of Kettering, Northamptonshire, attempted to send sexual messages to a police decoy posing as a 12-year-old girl on 16 May 2024. He breached his sexual harm prevention order by using Snapchat, which he was prohibited from using. He also created and possessed indecent images of children, including one Category A image and multiple Category C images. He had a prior conviction in 2022 at Wood Green Crown Court for similar offending.
Previously convicted in 2022 for similar offences and subject to a sexual harm prevention order. Admitted breaching the order and creating/possessing indecent images of children. Sentenced by His Honour Judge David Herbert KC.

Pleaded guilty to one count of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, three counts of causing or inciting a girl aged between 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child. Judge Adrienne Lucking QC commented on the dangers of such online behaviour. Subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 15 years and placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely. To serve 20 months before release on licence.
Mark Ure

Mark Ure, of Long Row, Woodford, Kettering, Northamptonshire, engaged in online sexual communication with four undercover police decoys posing as girls aged 12 or 13 (named Olivia, Emma, Lily and Rhea) via Kik messenger and WhatsApp between August and October 2021 as part of West Midlands Police's Project Atari operation. Conversations turned explicitly sexual; he expressed a 'schoolgirl fantasy', sent lewd images, incited sexual acts, discussed meeting for sex, confirmed a phone call to arrange a meeting on a Thursday after checking she could skip school, and searched for an Airbnb near one decoy's location. No actual meeting occurred.
Admitted eight child sex offences. Her Honour Judge Adrienne Lucking QC ruled he posed a significant risk of serious harm to very young teenage girls. Prior conviction for producing cannabis. Must serve at least two-thirds of custodial term before parole eligibility. Indefinite sex offenders register and sexual harm prevention order.
Matthew David Stephen Benson

Matthew David Stephen Benson, previously of Aylesbury, sexually abused a four-year-old boy in Isham on May 19, 2019, when, as a trusted adult, he took advantage of being left alone with the child for just 15 minutes. The boy disclosed the offence to a parent, who called the police, and 25-year-old Benson was subsequently arrested and charged with sexual activity with a child under 13 and with causing a child to watch a sexual act.
Found guilty by jury after trial in September 2021. Seven years plus four years on extended licence for sexual activity with a child under 13, and 16 months for causing a child to watch a sexual act, all concurrent. Placed on Sex Offenders Register for life.
Neil Bennett

Neil Bennett, 39-year-old ex-serviceman of Mills Lane, Towcester, spent two weeks messaging a supposed mother online to arrange a meetup to have sex with her 11-year-old daughter, sending indecent images of children to prove seriousness and requesting images of the child. He was actually communicating with an undercover police officer. He cancelled the meeting on the day. Police found 108 indecent images on his devices, 50 category A.
Shown genuine remorse. Judge ruled immediate custodial sentence necessary. Also handed a sexual harm prevention order restricting internet and electronic device use.
Nicu Botnari

In the early hours of October 11, 2020, a woman was relaxing in the garden with her housemates after a long shift. Among the guests was Nicu Botnari, an acquaintance from Northampton’s Headlands area. After the woman went to bed, she was horrified to find Botnari on top of her, committing rape. He fled the house shortly after, but the victim bravely reported the attack to the police.
Found guilty of one count of rape. Police praised the victim's bravery.
Oliver James Edwards

Oliver James Edwards, a 38-year-old man of no fixed abode, committed a sexual assault against a woman at an address in Kettering, Northamptonshire, on June 6, 2015. The incident occurred during a social gathering where Edwards had only met the victim that day. The woman felt unwell and retired to bed early. She awoke to find Edwards sexually assaulting her without consent. Edwards was arrested, charged, and convicted by jury.
