Kalvin Tiernan broke into a sports centre on St John’s Road on 5 July 2023. He entered the staff room and stole a rucksack and items including a tablet computer before leaving through a fire exit. He was identified from CCTV footage and arrested on 24 July 2023.

Karen Thompson, aged 56, violently attacked police officers at her home on Lower Fant Road, Maidstone, in the early hours of Friday 25 October 2019. Officers had attended following reports of a disturbance but she refused entry, threw a mobile phone from a window, and subjected them to verbal abuse. When police forced entry, she tried to spit in one officer’s face, bit another’s hand, and kicked and spat at them repeatedly. In custody she scratched an officer and deliberately urinated on the cell floor. She was arrested and charged the next day under the Assaults on Emergency Workers Act.

Paul Martin, 40, of Eden Avenue, Chatham, assaulted his 17-year-old daughter and racially abused another person by calling them the n-word at a pub in Gillingham on 19 July 2025. He had been drinking at the time. He pleaded guilty to assault by beating and racially aggravated harassment. The court imposed a community order for the assault involving 150 hours unpaid work and a 60-day alcohol abstinence tag, a conditional discharge for the racial offence, a two-year restraining order, and ordered payment of £114 victim surcharge and £85 court costs at £20 per month.

William Gregory, 36, of Marine Parade, Sheerness, had been drinking alcohol when he was found collapsed on a grass verge next to a row of houses in Newbridge Avenue, Sittingbourne, on Monday 5 September 2022. He also appeared to have removed a plaster cast from his foot. As Kent Police officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service clinicians tried to help him, he turned violent, threatened to fight the officers, and spat repeatedly at the ambulance crew. He continued to lash out, spit, and attempt to bite even after being placed on a stretcher and fitted with a spit guard.
