Yasar Hussain was found guilty of 13 counts of money laundering and one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in December 2012, following an investigation by West Yorkshire Police’s Economic Crime Unit. The charges related to £312,520.58 paid into business accounts owned by Hussain after he set up a company to manufacture an energy drink styled on the Duracell battery brand. He had travelled overseas and persuaded four international companies to pay advance fees for the sole distribution rights to the drink in their respective countries without Duracell’s permission to use their intellectual property and used the money to fund a lavish lifestyle. During his trial at Hull Crown Court in November 2012, Hussain fled the country despite being bailed not to leave the court precinct. He was traced to Dubai using a false identity, apprehended by Polish authorities in August 2024 at Warsaw Airport, extradited to the UK on 9 October 2024, and sentenced on 10 October 2024.
Convicted in absence originally in January 2013. Extradited from Poland after fleeing to Dubai. Original trial judge presided.

On May 4, 2023, Sergei Bacaianov was travelling from Holland to Killingholme port in Lincolnshire. His trailer appeared loaded with fresh chicken, but officers noticed suspicious new welding and paintwork on the trailer's floor. A search revealed two secret compartments beneath the floor with sliding drawers holding five metal trays each, concealing 31 kilos of high-value cannabis worth an estimated £620,000 on the streets. The cannabis was bound for Northern Ireland.
Pleaded guilty at Grimsby Crown Court on September 25, admitting partial knowledge of the smuggling. DNA evidence linked him to the loading process. Will face deportation after serving his time.

The first incident occurred two days before Sunday, October 22, 2023, at around 7.30pm, when he burst into a shop waving the cleaver but was tackled by staff, fled empty-handed, and discarded the weapon. Police linked him via distinctive clothes found at his home.

On the evening of 6 January 2021, Kai Smith, then 17, was with Connor Hadi and Bradley Jenkins who drove a stolen black Nissan Qashqai with fake number plates to Castledale Croft in the Manor area of Sheffield. The group opened fire on a residential street targeting a 23-year-old man after a prior argument on Hastillar Road South. The man's mother was hit, suffering wounds to her shoulder, face, and head, requiring hospital treatment. The trio fled on foot after abandoning the car.

A fire caused by a discarded cigarette swept through the property just over two years prior to sentencing, with fire alarms failing to activate, forcing tenants to flee for their lives.
Admitted offences. Judge Peter Kelson QC described him as wholly money-orientated, cutting corners, putting wealth before tenants' welfare. Has previously spent time in prison. Ordered to pay within 18 months.

Rimas Ekleris, 59, arrived at Immingham Dock on August 19, 2022, after travelling from Cuxhaven, Germany. Border Force officers, acting on a tip-off from the National Crime Agency (NCA), searched his vehicle and found 60kg of cocaine hidden in a secret floor compartment of his cab unit. NCA investigators, working with Lithuania’s Criminal Police Bureau, obtained phone call recordings proving he had full knowledge of the drugs, collected the packages from a supplier, and was instructed on accessing the hidden compartment.
Found guilty by jury at trial despite maintaining innocence. Phone recordings proved knowledge of the drugs.
