He rummaged through a jacket in the staff area, stole a pair of car keys, and took a Hyundai i20 from the car park. He was caught on CCTV snooping in a restricted area and was later arrested while sleeping in the stolen car. This incident occurred shortly after his release from prison for previous crimes.
Pitt pleaded guilty to the offenses. He has more than 170 previous crimes, including 94 for theft. Judge Anna Richardson noted his history of offending and that he was released from prison just three weeks before committing this crime.
