On 29 October 2013 at 3.15am, Liam Green, a 20-year-old University of Worcester student, was driving a Citroen on St Pauls Street, Worcester, without lights on. Police pulled him over, noticed strong smell of alcohol, arrested him and breath test showed 110 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath (legal limit 35 microgrammes).
Early guilty plea credited. Clean driving licence with no previous convictions. No harm caused. Ordered to pay £85 court costs and £60 victim surcharge. Judge noted extremely high alcohol level but impressed by defendant's letter and deemed not suitable for immediate custody.

On June 14 at around 10.50pm, Marc Bell, an 18-year-old from Evesham, threw complimentary biscuits in the first class carriage of a train at Worcester Shrub Hill Station, drew the curtains, ran into the toilet, and lunged at conductor Gurmel Gil, pushing him in the chest. He then stepped off the train, got nose to nose with the victim, and threatened to slit his throat if he saw him again. Police were called but he continued to be abusive.
Pleaded guilty to assault by beating. Currently serving a 28-day sentence in HMP Glen Parva for driving offences; this sentence runs concurrently. District Judge Nigel Cadbury noted fear of injury made it a serious common assault despite no actual injury. Defendant was under the influence of alcohol and expressed remorse.

On March 15, about 6.30pm, Marcus Evans argued with his mum, drank large amount of cider, and self-harmed at an address in Worcester. He volunteered to go to Worcestershire Royal Hospital by ambulance. There, he made inappropriate comments about heroin to another patient and tried to assault him. Staff restrained him and screened him off. He shouted obscenities and was put in restraint belts before being taken to police station, where he racially insulted PC Seewosaha.
Pleaded guilty. Diagnosed with schizophrenia and psychosis at age 16. Incident attributed to not taking medication and drinking cider. Judge noted medication as primary cause but highlighted drinking as his choice.

Kelly Saunders punched doorman Paul Miles to the side of the face after he tried to wake her from falling asleep on a sofa at Tramps Nightclub on December 29, 2013. She then kicked out at a woman police officer in the chest with a sharp heel when refusing to enter a police van.
Pleaded guilty to both counts of assault. Defending solicitor said she was mortified and had never fallen asleep in a club before.

Kevin Knowles assaulted his partner Gemma Hines by pushing her into a fence during an argument in their shared garden in Worcester on July 7, 2015, after she ended their 14-year relationship. After leaving, he received a threatening call from her mother about damaging his car, prompting him to return and throw bricks at Miss Hines' black Peugeot and her mother's blue Freelander. He then pushed his fist into her face but did not strike her. Police were called, and he was arrested at 1.15am on July 8.
Pleaded guilty. Ordered to pay £800 compensation to the victim's mother, £85 in court costs, £60 victim surcharge and £150 court charge. District Judge Nigel Cadbury noted the violence was persistent but minimal, inflamed by a phone call from the victim's mother.

Kevin Phillip Haden, of Horsford Road, engaged in a family feud with his sister Wendy Roberts, arguing over text messages where he threatened to damage her car. Shortly after, her and her husband's vehicles were damaged. On September 12, she confronted him in Worcester city centre; he shouted abusive threats in her face causing her alarm, leading to his arrest. He admitted shouting but denied intent to carry out threats.
Pleaded guilty. Family feud with sister Wendy Roberts over his marriage. Took into account provocation as he was followed, remorse shown and cooperation with police.

Lee Joseph Turner caused £200 worth of damage to his ex-girlfriend Danielle Williams' door and mobile phone after their relationship ended. He went to her house believing they were getting back together, but she told him it was over. He became emotional and kicked the door, leaving a dent, and damaged her phone. He later paid £150 to renew her contract and replace the door.
Pleaded guilty. Ordered to pay £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge. District Judge Nigel Cadbury warned that if he commits a new offence within 12 months he will be sentenced again for this.
