Jack Coomber stole a motorcycle in Hove on 27 August 2023. Sussex Police received reports of a man acting suspiciously by a motorbike in Church Road, Hove, at about 3.50am. When approached by officers, he fled. He was then seen riding a scooter along the seafront from Hove towards Brighton. Police followed, believing it stolen. Coomber failed to stop, drove at high speed over 60mph in residential areas, jumped red lights, and crashed into railings near the bottom of West Street, Brighton, where he was arrested. He was also found to have cannabis.
Pleaded guilty to all offences. Jailed for the seriousness of his offences, which involved driving at more than 60mph in residential areas.

He has a history of violence, including prior suspended sentences for going equipped to steal and assault by battery on a fast food restaurant manager in Shoreham. Described as a violent individual and serial abuser of women, with multiple restraining orders in place.
Pleaded guilty to harassing a woman with unwanted phone calls and texts, driving without insurance and two offences of criminal damage. Sentence included periods relating to previously suspended sentences from last year for going equipped to steal and assault by battery on the manager of a fast food restaurant in Shoreham. Magistrates issued a restraining order to protect his latest victim; he now has a total of seven such orders in respect of seven women met in Sussex through online dating websites.

On Saturday 21 November 2022, John Cummins, a 44-year-old mechanic from Bowring Way, Brighton, assaulted four police officers who responded to reports of a woman screaming at a flat in Parham Close. The officers attempted to arrest him on suspicion of assaulting a woman. Cummins lashed out, punching and kicking the officers, including one in the face while trying to handcuff him. Despite being sprayed with Captor spray and tasered, he continued the assault, pushing two officers over and punching another in the face and head. He fought his way out of the house before being detained by additional officers. Two officers were hospitalized for their injuries.
Pleaded guilty to four charges of assaulting a police officer. Incident involved violence towards officers responding to a domestic violence report, despite use of Captor spray and taser. Two officers required hospital treatment.

Andrew Smith, 41, of Gardeners Close, Flitwick, Bedford, rented a three-bed house in Argyle Street, Cambridge, in February 2020, claiming he was moving to the area for work. Less than two weeks after receiving the keys, he listed the property for sale online via a fake estate agent company without the landlord's knowledge. Two potential buyers contacted the fake agent, and a price was agreed with one. In June 2022, a prospective buyer visited with a drain surveyor, who spoke to neighbours and discovered the house was tenanted and not for sale. The buyer contacted police, who found fraudulent documents provided to the letting agent and payments to a furniture rental company for show home furniture. Smith was arrested at an address in Bedford.
Pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation and entering into money laundering. Described as a 'truly brazen crime' by Detective Constable Dan Harper.

He had been on a night out and drove home drunk after losing contact with a friend, with 129 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, almost four times the legal limit. No serious injuries occurred.

John Barker, 41, was arrested at 6.45pm on Monday 1 June after he pulled out in a Renault Laguna in front of a police car in Holland Road, Hove, forcing the officer to brake sharply to avoid a crash. Officers found his windscreen cracked, one tyre dangerously worn, and a sofa hanging out of the back. He had an expired licence and breath alcohol level of 82 micrograms per 100 millilitres, more than twice the legal limit of 35 micrograms.
Pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition. Prior three bans for drink driving taken into account.

John Larkin, 33, unemployed, of no fixed address, assaulted a woman by grabbing, punching, headbutting, and attempting to drag her to the floor while walking with her on Marline Avenue in St Leonards around 6.30pm on August 31, 2019. The incident was witnessed by multiple members of the public, including a driver who saw the victim crying and being placed in a headlock, and an off-duty police officer who identified Larkin. Witnesses intervened to help the victim, who was visibly upset and tried to escape. Larkin shouted at her and the public before walking off into Quebec Road. The victim was unwilling to substantiate allegations, but safeguarding was prioritized.
Also sentenced to two weeks’ imprisonment concurrently for failing to attend court hearing. Breached Criminal Behaviour Order by carrying unprotected needles in public and committed offence while subject to conditional discharge order for theft from Hastings Magistrates’ Court on November 28, 2019. Magistrates considered the offence serious due to repeated and sustained nature involving headbutting and grabbing victim’s throat. Criminal Behaviour Order to continue.

The gesture was in response to fans' chants of 'you fat bastard' and 'you’re fat and you know you are'. This was the first conviction for a claim of homophobia against a professional footballer.

He was seen by plain-clothed officers, followed to a second-hand phone shop where he tried to sell the stolen phone, and then arrested by uniformed officers from Sussex Police.

Nathan Virgo drove at excess speed in a Mercedes Sprinter van on the westbound carriageway of the A27 at Hangleton on August 9 last year. He attempted to undertake a BMW SUV at high speed, causing his vehicle to spin around to face the wrong way on the dual carriageway. The BMW was hit, flipped onto its side on the grass verge, trapping the driver with serious injuries. Virgo was arrested at the scene after testing positive for cannabis on a roadside DrugWipe test. A blood test showed 8.2 microgrammes of cannabis per litre of blood, exceeding the legal limit of 2 microgrammes.
Admitted dangerous driving, drug-driving and possession of cannabis. Disqualified from driving for 2 years and ordered to pay £128 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
