Creighton wore a balaclava, threatened victims with the machete, and demanded money aggressively. Police arrested him hiding in a Wendy house after the spree.

Naveed Ishaq downloaded almost 400,000 indecent images of children (31,307 category A, 29,256 category B, 327,531 category C) between March 2017 and August 2020. Images included children aged from one-year-old to 17, many appearing distressed and in severe pain. He also had 47 images of extreme pornography involving animals, including a video featuring a child, and a 120-page paedophile manual on 'how to practice child love'. Ishaq used chat rooms to request child porn, employed secretive browsers, and searched terms like 'pre-teen hardcore' and 'rape'. He was identified through a National Crime Agency investigation into a New Zealand-based file sharing website Mega.NZ, with six email addresses traced to his Bolton address. Police seized multiple devices from his home on Langthorne Walk, Bolton, uncovering the material.
Pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity. Previous good character. Wife entirely dependent on him. Must serve half before release on licence. Sexual harm prevention order for 10 years. On May 10, he threw a ladder at her while she was outside smoking, spat in her nose and eye, and punched her three to four times, again knocking her out.

Harry Bowman, aged between 14 and 18 at the time, blackmailed seven underage girls into sending explicit images via social media. He used the images to coerce further acts, physically abused some victims below the age of consent, threatened to set a victim's house on fire, and sent indecent images to a victim's family as revenge. Police seized his phone containing over 1,200 indecent images, including 364 in the most serious category, of girls as young as two or three. One victim described him as very controlling and noted encouragement to self-harm.

Harry Stevenson, 19, of Chequers Street, Wigan, along with three others, returned to attack Aiden Harrison on King Street West on April 11, 2021, after a lengthy discussion earlier in the evening. Stevenson used a metal pole to hit Mr Harrison in the head and body. The attack, captured on CCTV, lasted less than a minute and left the victim with injuries to his torso, chest, and arm. Stevenson had been present earlier around 8pm when Mr Harrison was allegedly attacked by a different group but did not participate then. Following that, Mr Harrison demanded an apology and suggested fighting if not given. Police arrested Stevenson nearby and found the metal pole in a bush. The victim reported physical pain, trauma, and anxiety.

Reece Entwistle, 29, of Deansgate Lane, was driving a Mercedes A200 when he drove straight over a roundabout at the junction of the East Lancs Road and Warrington Road in Leigh. The car collided with trees and a 30-year-old passenger, Mark Taylor, was pronounced dead at the scene. Entwistle was arrested and subsequently charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the prescribed limit for drink/drugs.
Pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing. Also disqualified from driving for 13 years. PC Karl Horner said: 'I also hope this case serves as a reminder about the potential consequences of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.'

Paul Barrett, of Nearcroft Road, Wythenshawe, Manchester, used an online chat room to communicate with a profile called 'Sasha', which he believed belonged to a 13-year-old girl but was operated by an undercover police officer, between January and February 2019. Despite being told she was 13 and in school, he engaged in sexual conversations, asking about kisses, sexual acts, school uniform, and sent his phone number asking to hear her orgasm. Arrested in March 2019.
Pleaded not guilty, convicted after trial of sexual communication and three counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity. No previous convictions. Judge Tom Gilbart described the behaviour as predatory and extremely serious. Subject to Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years and must sign Sex Offender Register for 10 years.

Using the name Salim, he requested photographs in school uniforms, described sex acts for Ria to perform on herself, inquired about their underwear, discussed arranging a meeting for sex, and instructed them to delete conversations. He was arrested in January following police investigation.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of attempting to have a sexual conversation with a child. Placed on the sex offenders register and subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years. Judge Graeme Smith described his conduct as stupid and noted he got carried away in a fantasy world.

The accounts were run by undercover police officers. He used the pseudonym ‘Salim’ and lived with his elderly mother, caring for her after his father's murder in 2002.

On September 23, 2021, Link Robinson, using the name Model Scout, entered an online chat room and targeted 'Izzy', an undercover police officer posing as a 13-year-old schoolgirl. He offered to pay her to model for him at his apartment in Bolton and to have sex, sending pictures of male private parts, encouraging sexual acts, and messaging via Kik as AdiBoy87. He became angry suspecting she was fake. Police tracked his IP to his flat in Bradshawgate, Bolton, arresting him on January 14, 2022, finding prohibited internet-capable devices breaching his existing sexual harm prevention order.
Admitted attempting to communicate with a child in order to obtain sexual gratification, attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, and four breaches of his sexual harm prevention order. Father-of-one and bar manager with prior conviction for possessing and distributing indecent images of children. Recorder Andrew Long stated: 'It is clearly indicated that you have a sexual interest in children.' Made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for life.

Michael Coleman, a former junior football coach, raped a 15-year-old boy he managed in Bolton in the mid-1970s. He indecently assaulted the boy in a changing room, in the showers after about four months at the club, and at his flat after taking the teenager out drinking on the pretence of buying food. The attacks were reported following Coleman's 2018 conviction for sexual assaults against boys aged 12 and 13 in the 1980s.

Ian Story, 60, of Gordon Street, Leigh, Greater Manchester, raped and sexually abused five young girls, including toddlers as young as one, over a decade. He filmed himself committing the crimes, including a toddler performing a sex act on him, and distributed the material to other offenders via email, WhatsApp and Telegram, bragging about the abuse. Police found 904 category A images, 1,466 category B and 21,795 category C images on his devices, mostly of children aged six months to eight years. He was identified by his tattoo, watch and jewellery. Story admitted the offences, claiming lack of adult sex for 10 years.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, 14 counts of making indecent images of children, seven counts of sexually assaulting a child, two counts of assault by penetration of a child and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Previously of good character and has shown some remorse. Judge noted his deeply engrained desire to abuse children poses a high risk of serious harm.

Janaid Qureshi, a 61-year-old prominent Blackburn community figure and MBE recipient, was convicted of six counts of sexual assault on a 25-year-old woman. The offences occurred while he was chief executive of the Ethnic Minority Development Agency in Blackburn. He was arrested in October 2008, and after a week-long trial at Bolton Crown Court, he was found guilty on all counts. He was sentenced to four years in prison and required to register as a sex offender for life. Detective Inspector Jill Johnston of Lancashire Police stated the sentence reflected the seriousness of the offence and the vulnerability of the victim, and praised the victim's courage.

Javid Iqbal raped a 22-year-old woman in the back of his ice-cream van on 23 May 2006. The victim was walking towards Bolton and entered his van; he drove to Alders Lane, assaulted her, then threw her out and fled. She reported it immediately, and DNA was collected. Despite evading capture, she later spotted the van and provided the registration. Nearly three years later, in June 2009, police stopped the van during an operation against unlicensed traders, leading to his arrest. He was charged with rape and possession of false documents, revealing he was an illegal immigrant from Pakistan.

Joshua Bourne, 32, was working as a doorman at a club in Leigh when he punched a man hard in the face on 21 August 2022. The victim had been involved in an altercation with other staff before being ejected, after which Bourne delivered the punch, as captured on CCTV. The victim was treated at Royal Bolton Hospital and Royal Blackburn Hospital, requiring a soft food diet for up to two weeks, and was left feeling anxious, angry and upset. Bourne had been released under investigation for drug offences after 15 snap bags of cocaine were found at his home on Ludlow Drive, Leigh on 28 June 2022.
Judge Gilbart described the incident as an entirely unnecessary act of violence and a very unpleasant piece of aggressive thuggery. Bourne has 11 previous convictions for 19 offences and had already pleaded guilty to possession of Class A drugs in a separate matter.

Kurtis Hardy, aged 37, was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court on 11 March 2024 for a series of sexual offences committed in Bolton during late 2023. The court heard that Hardy, who formerly resided in Westhoughton and now lives in Euxton, engaged in attempts to sexually communicate with a minor between 16 October 2023 and 28 November 2023. According to court documents, Hardy's communications included sending images of his penis to the child and asking her to send photos of herself while describing his own actions, such as telling her he was touching himself. These actions formed the basis of the charge of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. In addition to the communication offence, Hardy admitted to three counts of making indecent images of children. The images comprised eight Category A (the most serious), four Category B, and nine Category C images. He also pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited image of a child, bringing the total charges to five, all of which he confessed to.

John Trow

John Trow, formerly of Bromwich Street, Bolton, committed a series of sexual offences against a young girl over a three-year period in the 1990s. He was found guilty of one count of rape and six counts of indecent assault following a trial at Bolton Crown Court in 2016, when he was 63 years old. The judge described him as a criminal of particular concern and sentenced him to a total of 19 years in prison, comprising 11 years for the rape and eight years for the indecent assaults. He served his sentence at HMP Wymott and was not eligible for automatic early release. He died in prison in 2025 from natural causes.
Convicted of one count of rape and six counts of indecent assault. Judge Elliott Knopf deemed him a criminal of particular concern and imposed 11 years for rape plus 8 years for indecent assaults. On 24 March 2018, Jordan Whittaker was celebrating his 23rd birthday at the Moss Trooper pub in Timperley when former friend Jack Allen, who had not been invited, approached and became involved in an argument. Later in the evening, Whittaker sought Allen out, picked up a glass or bottle, and punched him six or seven times, causing the glass to shatter in his face. Allen suffered two gashes requiring 20 stitches. In a statement read in court, Allen expressed embarrassment and concern that the injury had narrowly missed his eye. Whittaker had no previous convictions and expressed remorse.
Pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm. No previous convictions. Remorseful. Judge Graeme Smith noted a high degree of provocation from the victim and that alcohol played a part, but described Whittaker's actions as 'completely over the top'.

Joseph Hart, a 34-year-old caretaker at Chorley New Road Primary School in Bolton, attempted to arrange sexual activity with a 12-year-old girl by contacting convicted paedophile Darren Leggett via text messages in early 2012. Hart, a married father of three, proposed to pay £100 per hour. The arrangement was intercepted when Kent Police arrested Leggett on 10 February 2012 and seized his phone, which contained the incriminating texts exchanged between 6 and 9 February. Greater Manchester Police raided Hart's home in May 2012 and found 61 indecent images of children on his computer. Hart was suspended from the school. Although he claimed he was trying to entrap Leggett, a jury convicted him of arranging a child sex offence. He had previously admitted six counts of making indecent images.
Also received a concurrent 9-month sentence for making indecent images. Placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years and subjected to a 5-year sexual offences prevention order. Judge Elliot Knopf described the case as 'unique' and 'complex', noting Hart's Asperger's syndrome and obsessive compulsive personality disorder.

He chased the two men towards the town centre, threatened a passer-by at Wigan bus station by holding a knife to the man's stomach, attacked one of the injured victims again on Standishgate, and chased after another member of the public with the knife, shouting he was going to kill him.

He entered a relationship with a woman who had children, failed to disclose his past to her, allowed her and the children to visit his flat, and visited her home sometimes overnight, though never alone with the children. Police found a calendar marking school holidays and children's birthdays. He continued the breaches from around March to September 2020.

He also breached a sexual harm prevention order imposed by Bolton Crown Court in 2019 on eight occasions between November 2022 and April 2023 by using prohibited devices, engaging in internet chats about child abuse, and using cloud storage. The offences came to light through digital investigations.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of distributing indecent images of children and eight counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order. Also ordered to comply with sex offender notification requirements indefinitely. Andrew Walsh, of Hughes Street, Bolton, sneaked into the 11-year-old girl's bedroom and sexually abused her while she was asleep, touching her over her pyjamas while performing a sex act on himself. This occurred every month over a two-year period. He also took her mobile phone and put it in the waistband of his shorts, asking her to grab it. The abuse was uncovered in June 2019 when the victim told a friend, leading to phone messages shown to her mother, who confronted Walsh. He admitted the offences in a secretly recorded conversation. Arrested on June 8.

Andrew Welsh, a married teacher at Canon Slade School, had a two-month affair with a 16-year-old pupil, including sex on two occasions at each other's homes, sexual touching in his car at a Sainsbury's car park, and numerous text messages declaring love. He provided unofficial pastoral care which turned romantic. He was discovered hiding in a drawer under the pupil's bed by her mother who arrived home unexpectedly. Arrested after the mother contacted the school and police. He claimed he thought the relationship was not illegal as she was no longer a pupil.
Pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust. Placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years and ordered to pay £500 prosecution costs. Judge noted he should have exercised better judgement.

Allah Karam, 29, of Mancroft Avenue, Bolton, raped a woman multiple times on 5 June 2009 after threatening to assault a teenage boy in her care. He also raped another vulnerable woman who was medically prohibited from sexual activity, and was convicted of perverting the course of justice. During the incident, he demanded £500 and a taxi fare from the first victim. The offences were investigated by Greater Manchester Police.

On 13 May 2024 in Leigh, Greater Manchester, Andrew Andy used his mobile phone to photograph a woman unknown to him in a public place, breaching an indefinite sexual harm prevention order imposed in October 2021. When stopped by police he failed to provide access to the device. On the same day he sexually assaulted another woman by touching her in a sexual manner without her consent. The court heard he has a history of similar predatory behaviour, including taking over 1,700 photos of women's bottoms in city centres during Manchester Pride. He was sentenced to two years and six months in prison, to be served immediately, and his phone was deprived to prevent future offending.
