The victim was his ex-partner's mother.

The vehicle failed to stop, was pursued for 40 minutes, hit by a stinger, and collided with another vehicle on Uttoxeter Road. Adams was arrested along with the driver. A search uncovered cocaine, £2290 in cash, digital scales, tick list and cannabis in the boot. Evidence from mobile phones linked him to supply and dealing of cocaine and cannabis.

Jason McCouaig, 40, sent obscene messages and pictures of two schoolgirls to sex offender Michael Bickerton after communicating online for a week last summer. They engaged in highly sexualised conversations about sexual activity with the girls. McCouaig met Bickerton in a North Staffordshire pub, gave him girls' knickers, and they committed a sexual act using the knickers. McCouaig later told Bickerton to delete the conversation after receiving an image of a naked child.
Pleaded guilty to publishing an obscene article between August 14 and 22 last year. Ordered to pay £1,250 costs. Judge Paul Glenn noted the offending was so serious it required an immediate jail sentence, describing the messages as disgusting.

He took a serrated steak knife from the pub (from his pizza order), chased the group outside while brandishing it to threaten and intimidate them. No one was injured. Incident witnessed by many in busy city centre. Arrested on Tontine Street.
Pleaded guilty to making a threat with a bladed article in a public place. Mitigating: reaction to threats from others, homeless at time but now has accommodation, remorseful. Judge: so serious only immediate jail appropriate; intoxicated on whisky and cocaine.

The mother discovered the messages indicating grooming attempts.

This occurred over two weeks in January and February. The girl confided in a friend, leading to police involvement and examination of phones.
Pleaded guilty to causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. One previous conviction for assault. A 10-year sexual harm prevention order imposed. Judge David Fletcher noted clear grooming behaviour.

Lamin Jallow, 46, from West Lothian, was involved alongside Peter Nwankwo in supplying class A drugs to a dealer line in Stoke-on-Trent. Arrested last July at a Sackville Street address controlled by Nwankwo after being seen entering his BMW, from which £13,000 worth of crack cocaine, 14.6 grams of heroin and £3,550-£4,260 worth of cannabis were seized. His phone showed evidence of supplying cocaine, acting as go-between for contacts including 'Chairman', aware of large cannabis quantities.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a class A drug and possession with intent to supply a class B drug. Mitigating factors included redundancy from a high-paying job, mental health issues, cocaine habit; performed limited function as middle man paid in drugs. He booked a hotel room. Confronted by paedophile hunters outside Potteries Centre, Hanley, and arrested by Staffordshire Police. No previous convictions.
Pleaded guilty to attempting to engage a child in sexual communication and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming. Made subject of Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years and placed on Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. Mitigating: isolated individual, family issues.

They found 831 grams of cocaine and 1,949 grams of cannabis in his bedroom, along with £61,080 in cash, scales, and snap bags. Messages on his phone indicated he was supplying drugs to street users and other dealers. The total value of drugs was estimated between £80,000 and £100,000. Williams pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs and possession of criminal property. The court heard he had no previous convictions and his family were supportive. Recorder Robert Smith said the sentence was inevitable for a professional, sophisticated drug operation run solely for financial gain.

His actions were caught on CCTV. He was arrested in October 2024 and later pleaded guilty to violent disorder. He had 27 previous convictions for 51 offences.

He also bombarded a 15-year-old girl from South Wales with messages between Christmas and New Year, persistently asking for naked pictures of her breasts and bottom despite her disclosing her true age; she sent some but they never met.

Dale Hicks, 35, of Cheadle, Stoke-on-Trent, abused his position as treasurer of charity Life Keys by lodging false Gift Aid repayment claims between 2014 and 2016, stealing over £270,000. He diverted the money into his own bank account and spent at least £76,000 on cruises and luxury holidays, which he posted about on social media. The charity became suspicious when large sums arrived and were moved on, and he was asked to step down in March 2016. He made false claims in the name of the charity's chief executive, which were 30 times higher than actual donations. He also attempted to change the charity's nominated bank account to one under his control. He claimed he spent the money on good causes, including a church and humanitarian aid, but his bank accounts showed large payments to a travel firm. At Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Judge Paul Glenn jailed him for three years, saying he had lied to cover his tracks and that his actions deprived deserving causes of funds.

He deliberately drove the car at him at speed, hitting him at the junction with Beresford Road. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. It was described as a targeted attack. Abdulla drove away but returned to the scene later that day and was arrested after presenting himself to officers.
Previously admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving, found guilty of wounding with intent after a trial. Also received a driving ban of almost 12 years.

She had made repeated threats to 'torch' the block following neighbour complaints about her abusive and noisy behaviour. The blaze caused £1,850 worth of damage but firefighters arrived within four minutes and found her asleep on a mattress.

He was drinking with a man at the property. At around 3:20am, the victim was woken from her sleep upstairs at the property. She was sexually assaulted and, as she stirred, saw Attwood, who was not wearing trousers, run from the bedroom. Attwood was told to leave. He later messaged the man he’d been drinking with about the incident. Following arrest, Attwood’s phone was seized and, when forensically examined, it was found that 11 images of the victim had been deleted.
Pleaded guilty at the start of his trial. Aged 51, from Eccleshall.

Simon Hulme, of Rosedawn Close West, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, initiated contact on social media site Kick in December with a fake profile 'Shelly' posing as a 13-year-old girl. He disclosed his age as 35, sent videos of himself performing a sex act, requested pictures and live video of her, became aggressive, demanded she view his videos, and expressed desire for sex despite knowing her stated age. The woman discontinued chats and reported him to Protecting the Innocent group, who confronted him at Bucknall Park leading to police arrest. Offences occurred between December 1 and January 5.
Pleaded guilty to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order; attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child; and attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child. Placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely and made subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. A couple of minutes before they got to Grange Road, Egerton was racially abusive to the taxi driver and threatened him with violence and that he would steal his taxi. He then demanded money from the taxi driver and ran off with £19. A video of the incident was circulated on social media on 18 January 2020 and Egerton was arrested on 21 January 2020.

Samuel Wilton, aged 24, of Barrie Gardens, Talke, engaged in controlling and coercive behaviour towards his pregnant partner between March and October 2025, restricting her movements, isolating her from friends and family, monitoring her actions, preventing her from leaving the address, controlling her personal care, pestering her for sex despite her illness, and making threats about the unborn baby including restrictions on cuddling or walking it and suggestions it would not be kept. On September 26, 2025, he assaulted her by repeatedly pushing her, dragging her into the living area, and taking her phone when she sought help. After the relationship ended and while on bail, he breached conditions by sending threatening messages to her and her mother, including threats to burn down the family home and harm family members. Victim now suffers flashbacks and panic attacks; discovered prior similar behaviour via Clare's Law.
Convicted after trial of controlling and coercive behaviour and assault by beating. Pleaded guilty to witness intimidation. In custody for six months prior to sentencing. Subject to a restraining order prohibiting contact with victims for five years. Judge noted he treated victim very badly, controlled her life, was violent, and caused serious alarm and distress.

Thomas Webb, aged 31, of High Street, Newcastle, was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after pleading guilty to attempted sexual communication with a child. The court heard that on 15 November 2022, Webb was using the Wink website when he began messaging a decoy who stated she was 13 years old. Webb, who claimed to be 27, sent explicit messages including a photograph of his genitals and discussed having sex with the child. He also asked for photographs of her stomach, stating he had a 'thing for stomachs', and instructed her on performing a sex act. Webb was tracked down by the paedophile hunter group to the shopping centre where he worked and was arrested on 27 November 2022. He had no previous convictions but had received a caution in 2014 for similar behaviour.

Also given a 12-month mental health treatment requirement, Building Choices programme, 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement, 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years.

Tristan Shaughnessy, a 19-year-old sex offender from Tiverton Road, Berryhill, Stoke-on-Trent, breached the notification requirements of the sex offenders' register by staying over at a neighbour's address with three children for four days without notifying police and by setting up a Facebook account in the name Jay Shaughnessy. This followed a conditional caution on September 27, 2020.
Pleaded guilty to three offences of failing to comply with notification requirements. Ordered to pay £150 costs. Judge noted prompt guilty plea, breaches not the most serious, no inappropriate behaviour.

In the early hours of Wednesday 14 September 2022, Hange ran over a dog near Cherry Hill Lane in Knutton, killing it. A confrontation broke out with the dog’s owner. After the victim walked away, Hange got into his Vauxhall Insignia, drove off towards Silverdale Road, turned around, and drove back towards Cherry Hill Lane at speed, directly at the victim, who hit the windscreen before falling to the ground. The victim was not seriously injured.
Admitted attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and driving a motor vehicle dangerously. No remorse shown.

Steven Banks, of Beverley Drive, Bentilee, drove up to his 39-year-old victim at the Screwfix on Leek Road, Stoke-on-Trent, shortly after 5:30pm on Wednesday 27 May 2020. He kicked, punched and stamped on the man before driving off at speed. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his face, liver and spleen.

Ryan Connor, from Longley Road, Longton, raped two women he met on the Plenty of Fish dating app. He took them back to his house where, despite them making it clear they did not want full sex, he raped them. There was a 38-month gap between the attacks. Both victims had initially consented to kissing and less serious sexual activity.
Convicted of two rapes. Placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Mitigating: messages were flirtatious; no violence used. Judge David Fletcher noted initial consensual sexual activity before the rapes.

Officers conducted a warrant at a property on Finstock Avenue in Blurton on 3 April 2020. Upon arrival, officers discovered a quantity of class A and B drugs. Mountford was arrested and later charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, heroin and making an offer to supply cannabis.
Admitted the offences in court. Drugs and associated paraphernalia seized and destroyed.
Reece Wigglesworth

Reece Wigglesworth, aged 15 at the time, and an accomplice robbed a 48-year-old disabled woman of her Vauxhall Corsa at knifepoint outside her home in Clare Street, Basford, at 12.50am on February 18. He took 50 pence from her purse, possessed the knife, and they drove off before being detained by police. Seven months later, on October 9 at 7.30pm, he burgled the home of a 79-year-old woman in Newcastle, pushed his way in after she mistook him for her son, sexually assaulted her by pushing her against a kitchen worktop and playing with his private parts, hit her on the head, and fled. Identified by DNA on her clothes and a neighbour's door handle. Arrested three days after the assault following media appeals.
Pleaded guilty to robbery, possession of a knife in public, burglary and sexual assault. Placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely and barred from activities involving children and vulnerable adults. Prior caution for sexually assaulting a child.
Richard Anthony Hudson

Richard Anthony Hudson, a convicted sex offender released from an extended prison term in 2019 and subject to lifetime notification requirements, failed to inform police of his engagement to a mother of two boys and stayed overnight at her family home on Lewis Street, Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent, on 15 to 20 occasions between September and December 2020, breaching the requirement to notify for stays over 12 hours in a household with children. He also used an Instagram account (AntHunt37) from at least 25 August 2020 to contact a former girlfriend, who unwittingly sent him an unsolicited picture of her six-year-old daughter. Hudson has 13 prior convictions for 19 offences, including sexual crimes, and was classed as very high risk. He was recalled to prison following these offences.
Admitted three counts of breaching notification requirements. Judge Paul Glenn branded him devious. Prior convictions for sex offences; subject to lifetime notification requirements. Mitigator noted remorse and apology.

Richard Carr started a fire in his room at a property in Hanley on 9 December 2020 at 10.05am. Police were called by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service reporting people were trapped. Officers found Carr sat outside refusing to allow firefighters into the property. All occupants were evacuated. No-one was injured.
Pleaded guilty to arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered. Age 44, of Powell Street, Cobridge.
Rafakat Abbas

Rafakat Abbas, aged 30, from Lilleshall Street in Dresden, was the driver of a grey Audi A4 in the early hours of 3 November 2020 when it was involved in a single-vehicle collision on Sandon Road in Meir at the junction of Queensmead Road. The Audi was travelling at 115 miles-per-hour as it approached the right-hand bend, on a 30 mile-per-hour road. Abbas lost control of the vehicle, and following its collision with a residential wall, the vehicle was found on its roof. Front seat passenger Paul Hammersley, aged 65, from Meir, was pronounced dead at the scene. Abbas failed to provide a specimen of blood for analysis and admitted during police interview that a quantity of cannabis found at the scene belonged to him.
Pleaded guilty in May 2021. Handed a four-year driving ban and required to take an extended driving test.
