Police raided multi-occupancy house in Campbell Road, Bedford, on 18 October 2018, seizing laptop and three hard drives from Gonzalez's room containing 404 images and 182 videos totalling 20 hours, including one 17-minute video 'Daisy's Destruction' showing abuse of 18-month-old girl described as worst seen by officer. Gonzalez distributed nine Category A and three Category B moving images, downloaded 85 Category A, 65 B, 379 C images and 57 extreme pornography images, stored disguised as music albums. Images showed pre-pubescent girls in pain, crying, bestiality and torture. Used search terms like 'sadistic', 'torture' and 'snuff'.
Pleaded guilty to two charges of distributing indecent images of children, three of making (downloading) and one of possessing extreme pornography. No previous convictions in England and Wales or Spain. Served as sergeant in Spanish army, worked with adults with autism, later in car wash. Incidents attributed to lockdown stress after being signed off work.

On March 3 2020, police found the distressed woman on Hockwell Ring, Luton, after a member of the public alerted them to her screams. She had been raped, sexually assaulted and beaten with an object by Alyas Hussain and Slamet Nazir in a brutal joint attack.
Found guilty by jury of rape, assault by penetration and wounding with intent. Judge commented: 'This was an appalling, brutal joint attack. Hussain had an arrogant belief... that she was expendable. He was less directly involved in the sexual assaults, but his violence facilitated them. The disrespect and contempt they had for this victim was clear.'

Amy Bygrave, 28, an administrator at a Connells branch, stole £11,573.43 in unclaimed rental deposits from August 2016 to February 2017 by transferring them into her own and a friend's bank accounts instead of the company account. She created a fake audit trail to cover up around 20 such transactions. The offences were discovered after a tenant complaint.
Pleaded guilty to stealing £11,573.43 from Connells. Repaid over £1,150. Judge Michael Kay QC noted remorse, debt issues, and hope of further repayment with new job.

Barry Price, of no fixed address, used a fake Facebook profile pretending to be a 17-year-old boy to arrange meetings with young girls. On October 28, 2019, he met a 16-year-old girl, drove her to a field and raped her in his car after putting her phone on airplane mode, then took her to a property in Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire, where he raped and sexually assaulted her further before abandoning her at a railway station. On November 7, 2019, he met a 15-year-old girl, took her to the same property, put her phone on airplane mode, sexually assaulted and raped her, threatened her when she tried to leave, and destroyed her mobile phone.
Found unanimously guilty by a jury of four counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and two counts of false imprisonment. Served with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and an indefinite restraining order. Recorder James Wood QC described him as callous, self-entitled, showing no remorse or empathy, and having planned the rapes.
Shandies Rose

Emmanuel Turner, 33, and Shandies Rose, 29, were convicted over the death of their eight-month-old son Devaun Rose-Turner. Devaun suffered more than 80 separate injuries in the eight weeks leading up to his death in December 2021 at the family home in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Emergency services were called after Turner reported the child was not breathing. Devaun died in hospital shortly afterwards. The couple knew of his pain but kept it hidden and did not seek medical treatment. They were arrested in 2022, released under investigation, and travelled to Nigeria. They were arrested upon returning to the UK in May 2024. Rose was convicted of manslaughter, Turner of murder, and both were also convicted of causing or allowing a child to suffer significant harm.

Stevie John White, aged 37 and of Fairhead Road North in Colchester, was convicted of a string of burglaries in the Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury areas. On 21 November 2020 he was charged with burglary dwelling with violence after two occupants were assaulted in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire on 30 October 2020, during which watches and jewellery were stolen. After arrest and remand, he made voluntary admissions to seven further burglary dwelling offences in Suffolk that occurred on 6 August 2020 (Hundon and Great Waldingfield), 12 August 2020 (Cavenham) and 19 October 2020 (Sapiston, West Stow, Sproughton and an attempted burglary at Depden).
Pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing. Seven additional burglary dwelling offences taken into consideration.
Teslim Johnson

Teslim Johnson, a 39-year-old church leader and trustee of Agape Church in Luton, submitted fraudulent Gift Aid claims to HMRC between at least 2016 and the previous year. He falsely listed donations from individuals who later confirmed they had never made such donations or even heard of the church. As the sole signatory on the church bank accounts, he transferred the fraudulently obtained repayments into his personal account. A search of his property uncovered Gift Aid envelopes with details that did not match the records submitted to HMRC. He was convicted of fraud by abuse of position and money laundering.
Found guilty after trial. Used his position as a preacher and trustee at Agape Church to divert fraudulent Gift Aid claims into his personal bank account. Attempted to claim £150,000 in Gift Aid repayments, receiving £103,154.
Shaun Thomas

In the early hours of 22 January 2019, during a heated argument at their Bedford home, Shaun Thomas poured a flammable liquid over his partner’s clothes while she was sitting on the sofa and set her on fire with a lighter. The victim suffered severe burns. Police found the back door key broken off in the lock and a butane canister rigged with a firework. Thomas was convicted of arson with intent to endanger life, attempted GBH with intent, ABH, and possession of explosives with intent.
Denied all charges but found guilty by jury after trial. Prior convictions not mentioned.

Mohammed Al-Amin, from Saxon Way, Great Denham in Bedford, began sexually abusing the victim when she was in her early teens. In February last year, the victim reported coercion and exploitation, disclosing she was forced into an Islamic marriage via Zoom in a language she did not understand before turning 18. She faced controlling behaviour including pressure on how to dress and behave to avoid bringing shame to Al-Amin and his family. After the relationship ended, he sent abusive and threatening messages, including threats to kill her family.
Found guilty of one count of forced marriage and two counts of sexual activity with a child. Placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for seven years and received a five-year restraining order.
Mohammed Hamid
Conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm *

On 2 June 2022, Mohammed Hamid drove a BMW used in a premeditated ambush on Telford Way, Luton. Four masked men armed with baseball bats attacked a 17-year-old boy, causing a traumatic brain injury and severe, life-changing damage. CCTV captured the victim entering a vehicle before the attack and the BMW speeding away. Hamid later abandoned the car in Farley Hill, Luton. The victim suffered irreversible brain damage.
Found guilty of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. Already in custody on separate charges.
Mohammed Hussain

Mohammed Hussain, 38, of Ivy Road in Luton, Bedfordshire started an online chat with who he believed to be two girls aged 12 and 13 and sent a number of sexually explicit messages and pornographic images and videos to them. He was arrested by police officers in July 2020 after his actions were reported.
Found guilty after a six-day trial in April 2021 of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.

Trevor Smith, a 64-year-old carpenter and kitchen fitter from Luton, Bedfordshire, plied a teenage girl with alcohol including white wine, lemonade and vodka at a party. The girl went to a bedroom feeling drunk. Smith followed, pressed against her, rubbed her leg flirtatiously, then became predatory and violent. He raped her from behind and subjected her to a sordid and degrading sexual act.
Pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault. Of positive good character with 14 grandchildren. Devoted family man. Made immediate admission. Genuinely remorseful. Must abide by Sexual Harm Prevention Order and register as a sex offender for life. Must serve two-thirds before parole.
