James Ritchie, 30, from Huddersfield, travelled over 190 miles to London after engaging in graphic online chats where he plotted to sexually abuse children. He was arrested on arrival in Clapham on 10 July 2020. Police found indecent images, including Category A child abuse images, at his home. He had added a 'kill switch' to his phone to wipe evidence.

Pleaded guilty to arranging child sex offences and possession of indecent images. Will remain on the sex offender register for life.

Sexual assault by digital penetration *

James Thomas, 28, from Valeside, Hertford, carried out a sexual assault by digital penetration in the early hours of 29 April 2023 inside a hotel on Harrow Road. The victim reported the attack to police on 1 May 2023, leading to his immediate arrest. Crucial CCTV footage from the hotel was obtained by police.

Found guilty of sexual assault by digital penetration. Added to sex offenders register.

Jason Fossett

Arson with intent to endanger *

Life imprisonment with minimum term of 3 years and 244 days

Jason Fossett was caught on CCTV piling up rubbish against the fire exit of the Two Brewers gay bar on Clapham High Street in March 2017 and setting fire to it. Officers searching his home found a red leather satchel matching the one on CCTV, as well as receipts from the Two Brewers for that night. Bank records showed that Fossett had visited the bar. The attack was not treated as a hate crime.

Pleaded guilty to arson with intent to endanger. Previously jailed for eight years in 2004 for attempting to set fire to the same bar.
