Daniel Wells
Stalking *
Sentence
80 hours of unpaid work, £150 fine, 20 rehabilitation activity days under a one-year community order, £114 surcharge, £85 in costs, and forfeiture and destruction of cocaine
Daniel Wells, 28, of Adlam Way, ignored his ex-girlfriend's wish to end contact after their split. He repeatedly contacted her via calls and messages, drove past her address in his work van, parked outside her home, attempted to reach her using other people's phones, and sent letters, flowers, and chocolates. On February 4, 2023, he knocked on her door, leading to his arrest during which police found a small amount of cocaine on him. His victim felt uncomfortable, altered her daily routine, installed a camera and secure locks at her home, and reported impacts on her sleep and work concentration.
Pleaded guilty to stalking and possession of a class A drug. No further incidents since arrest, and he is moving to Southampton. The defence noted that the victim initially did not want to charge him and that there were specific reasons for his distress over the relationship end.
