On July 31, 2021, Sharon Jeannine Gladwell, a breeder of Australian shepherd dogs, was caught on camera kicking and hitting a dog named Trust, who was nursing her eight newborn puppies in a whelping room at Gladwell's home in Mount Pleasant, Hayle. The incident occurred after an argument with the dog's owner, who had access to the camera footage via an app. Gladwell entered the whelping box, straightened the bedding, kicked Trust hard in the chest, hit her twice in the face, picked her up by the scruff and rump, and threw her to the back of the pen. A vet confirmed Trust suffered physical pain and emotional stress. One puppy died from suspected leptospirosis, but the others were sold. Trust was returned to her owner in a dirty and underweight condition. The RSPCA investigated after a report in July 2023.
Pleaded guilty to two offences under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Ordered to pay £400 in costs and a £293 victim surcharge.

On July 7, 2023, in Newquay, Cornwall, Meg Mathews, 57, attended a book promotion event at Teylu homeware and fashion shop in Nansleden. Nervous about her first public speaking appearance in years, she consumed a couple of drinks with higher alcohol content than realised. She then drove her yellow jeep around the corner to show it off to a friend she was staying with, carrying a passenger. She lost control on the first bend and crashed into a stationary grey Ford Kuga, causing minor damage and scrapes. A local resident called the police. Officers breathalysed her at the scene, recording 77 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath (legal limit 35). She was arrested and later interviewed, admitting to the drinks and drive.
Pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. No previous convictions. Full credit for early guilty plea. Offered drink driving awareness course to reduce ban period. Financial penalty totalled £701 including £176 surcharge and £85 costs.
